An estimated 20 million men are screened for prostate cancer in the U.S. every year, and over 1 million are subsequently referred for biopsy. The decision to biopsy a patient’s prostate gland is made based on a digital rectal exam (DRE), and blood tests such as PSA (prostate specific antigen).
